Our mission
Most online calculators are built to generate ad impressions, not to inform. They round aggressively, omit the footnotes that actually determine the answer, and rarely cite the statute or regulation behind the formula. The result is that people facing high-stakes decisions — a veteran filing a VA claim, a federal employee planning retirement, an immigrant tracking residency days — get numbers that look precise but are not.
GE3 exists to fix that. Every calculator we publish is built around the official methodology: the VA combined-ratings table at 38 CFR § 4.25, the FERS annuity formula in 5 U.S.C. § 8415, the Social Security PIA bend points the SSA publishes each year, the IRS Uniform Lifetime Table, the Home Office's continuous-residence rules. We then write a companion article that explains the rule in plain English, with worked examples and citations you can verify.
How we work
Every calculator starts with the primary source. We pull the relevant statute, regulation, or agency handbook and trace each input field back to a specific provision. If the rule has an exception (and most do), the calculator either handles it or surfaces it in a callout. We never approximate a percentage or round a number for marketing convenience — every output is computed from the same arithmetic the agency uses.
Every article is written from scratch. We do not scrape content from other sites, rewrite government publications with synonyms, or use AI to spin existing articles. Our explainers cite their sources inline so you can check our work. When the law changes — and benefits law changes often — we update the article and the calculator together, with a "last reviewed" date at the bottom of every page.
What we do not do
GE3 is an informational service. We do not provide legal, tax, or financial advice. We do not represent veterans before the VA, file immigration petitions, draft estate plans, or sell insurance. We do not store the numbers you enter into our calculators — every computation runs entirely in your browser, and nothing is sent to a server. If you need advice tailored to your specific situation, consult a qualified professional: a VA-accredited attorney or VSO, an immigration lawyer admitted to practice, a Certified Financial Planner, or an estate planning attorney licensed in your state.
Editorial independence
GE3 is funded by advertising. We accept display advertising through Google AdSense and may accept sponsored placements in the future, but advertising never influences the content of our calculators or articles. The formula for a VA combined rating does not change based on which ad network we use, and the rules for UK Indefinite Leave to Remain are the same whether or not an immigration lawyer advertises on our site. Our editorial decisions are made independently of our advertising relationships.
If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labeled as such, separated from our editorial content, and subject to the same factual standards as our other work. We do not publish paid reviews, paid rankings, or "best of" lists that accept payment for placement.

Our history
GE3 was founded in 2025 by a small team of writers and developers who were frustrated by the state of online benefits calculators. We had each personally navigated the VA claims process, FERS retirement planning, or a parent's estate settlement, and we had each been misled by a calculator that promised precision and delivered marketing. We built GE3 to be the calculator we wished we had found.
